A new €3.4m EU co-funded project TIMBRE (Tailored Improvement of Brownfield Regeneration in Europe) has been launched, which is an integrated framework of methods, technologies, tools and policies for improvement of brownfield regeneration in Europe. The aim is to overcome barriers with Europe’s contaminated brownfield sites to turn them back into productive available land. TIMBRE is starting its project with a comprehensive review of projects, programmes and initiatives for brownfield sites and its reuse.
TIMBRE sees brownfield regeneration as essential for sustainable land management in the EU and recognise that many practical and innovative technologies for site clean-up as well as methods to support decision making processes exist, but they are only rarely applied using their entire potential.
The project is also looking at emerging challenges, such as the urgent demand for soil remediation and the reuse of on-site infrastructures by the European Union and the call for the development of new and integrated solutions. The project will be funded until June 2014.
Biogenie’s Soil treatment facilities offer a quick, compliant and cost effective option to treat materials off site, but we also can draw on the expertise of our sister company Celtic Technologies to manage and treat materials on site, saving you more money using over 35 different innovative technologies
