The new site is located in the commune of Bruyères-sur-Oise, in Val-d’Oise, Île-de-France, and is licenced to treat up to 300,000 tonnes of contaminated soil annually.
The expectation is that the facility will process around 200,000-250,000 tonnes of soil per year , which is a similar volume to our current plant at Écharcon.
The new facility was funded with a €7million (approx. £5million) investment, creating a dozen new permanent jobs, and was designed to meet the demand locally for a treatment centre of this capability.
In the UK, construction is nearing completion on our new site at Biffa’s Westmill landfill near Ware in Hertfordshire. The site is expected to open later in the summer, is licenced to treat 60,000te annually, and is ideally located for developments in London and the surrounding counties to the North. this site will compliment our facility at Redhill which currently treats over 100,000te per annum of materials from developments across the South East.
